Nice 'Hoo report from Bill Erhardt

We have been receiving some very positive feedback on our Wahoobites and Wahoobite Jr lures. Our customer Bill Erhardt was fishing off of the Baja Peninsula this week and reported consistant wahoo action on our lures. The color of choice seemed to be red/black, with pink coming in a close second.

Bill writes:

"Mike, I received my order last week...Yesterday I used the Bigbite Wahoobite along side with an orange and black Yozuri Bonita. I caught 5 'hoos by noon and called it quits. 4 of the 5 fish were caught with the Bigbite Wahoobite. Today we went out again and I put out the Bigbite and caught a 60+ pounder. With all the fish being caught, the eyes were knocked clean off!"

Bill, dont worry about the eyes.. You keep catching those nice fish and we'll get some replacements in the mail to ya!!

Nice Wahoo!

We received some more positive feedback on our wahoobite lure. This testimonial is from Gabe Heinisch from North Carolina. He writes:

"I wanted to share our catch with you from Saturday 9/5. Although it turned out to be a bad day to go to the stream because the wind never switched around to the East like the weatherman said it would, we were rewarded with a 62lb and 25lb Wahoo. Both were caught around 40 miles offshore while high-speed trolling towards the Same-ole.
Ever since we incorporated high-speed trolling we have more than doubled our catch.
Thanks Mike, keep makin'em"

Thanks for the positive feedback Gabe.. Wahoo season is just starting and the big boys are starting to show up off our coasts.. Be sure you get everything you need to make your next high speed trolling trip an eventful one! Click Here!

Nice Wahoo!

We were contacted by our customer Steve Sprague this week and he had a fish story to tell. On January 7th, 2009 he was trolling our pink/black "wahoo-bite" off the coast of Palm Beach, FL. His speed was 14 knots, and the fish weighed 50+ pounds. His email to us concluded by saying: "Nice way to start the new year!". You got that right Steve! Thanks for sharing!

Nice fins from our customer Matt Kimball

Just received an e mail from a customer who had some success with our Bigbite Offshore Pelagic Plugs.. Here is what he wrote:

"Love the traditional cedar plug, so when I saw the Big Bite Offshore metal pelagic plug I thought it was genius. Ordered a silver one and threw it in the tackle bag. Then in May I took some friends fishing off Palm Beach, FL, trolling for mahi with the usual spread. Thinking I might get lucky with a tuna, I dropped the BBO plug way back on the shotgun. It got slammed, and to my suprise a big mahi was doing backflips on the other end. One fish on ice, reset the lines, this time putting the BBO plug just behind the propwash. It got hammered again, another mahi to the boat. Now I pull a BBO pelagic plug all the time. "-Matt Kimall, North Palm Beach

Thanks for the kind words Matt! Keep up the good work! You can check out our Bigbite Offshore Pelagic Plugs by clicking here.

Big Bluefin Tuna Caught on Bigbite Offshore Rod

We recently received some positive feedback on our 1-piece 60-100lb Bigbite Offshore fishing rod. This is an e mail from our customer Jutsin Vyce from Lexington, MA:

'The rods are great, I landed this 65" 140lbs bluefin(not yellow fin) in about 25 min. Can really put the hurt on these fish now. Can't wait to go tomorrow. Thanks again, Justin'

Thanks Justin for the positive feedback and be sure to keep us posted on the results of your next fishing adventure! For more information on Bigbite Offshore trolling rods, click here.

Nice shot of the BBO crew..

Here's the crew of Bigbite Offshore coming into port from a fishing trip. The dependable Grady brought us back home without incident as always.
This shot was taken by Wiley from http://www.reelboating.com/ @ Port Everglades.. The crew managed to pull in a few dolphin, including this nice one that ate a blue/white BigBite Offshore"Mini-bite" dolphin lure. To purchase this lure click here.

Wahoo Season appears to be near..

We have been talking to fellow fishermen in our area, and it appears that wahoo are starting to enter our waters in thicker numbers.. When summer starts to give way to autumn, wahoo fishermen get giddy with the thought of line peeling off their reels at a staggering pace.. It is common for a mid-size wahoo to dump 1/2 the line of a 30 pound outfit on its initial run!

The crew of Bigbite Offshore has perfected their technique for targeting these torpedo's of the ocean. This particular wahoo was caught on our red wahoobite, and it can be found on our website at: click-here
We will be more than happy to share our experiences with everyone in the coming months! Until then, be sure to keep 'em tight!

Now that

Now that’s a wahoo!

Old Wahoo Footage

This video is an oldie, but goodie!! One of the many good times on Mike's old 19 Mako "Kingfisher II". That Mako may have been small, but she sure did take care of us. This particular trip we had heard of reports of wahoo being caught south of Port Everglades all week. So Mike puts together a crew of three, Mike, Manny, and Pete. We decide that the earlier the better so we hit the inlet at just after dawn. The plan was to troll some BigBite Offshore "Wahoo-Bites" wahoo lures over the reefs in a zig-zag motion between 90-250. It didn't take very long before the line started peeling off and we knew what we had in store. WAHOO, AKA ONO for anglers out west. This video is the final 2:30 of the fight. Manny was on the rod, Mike on the gaff, and Pete filming the video. Enjoy the footage.

Storms, Storms, and more Storms

Time to get back into the blogging so here we go..... Unfortunately there will be no fishing this weekend due to a tropical wave coming through South Florida this weekend. The forecast for the upcoming week and weekend are not looking good either. We have two more systems brewing in the Atlantic that look like they might affect our weather toward the end of the weekend. Let's keep our fingers crossed that these don't form into hurricanes. On another note we have heard of some nice wahoo being caught a little farther north around Stuart with a 102lb wahoo landed in the past week. Time to start to think about getting you high speed trolling setup out. If you need any new gear you can go ahead and log onto www.bigbiteoffshore.com. We have everything you will need to successfully go offshore and high speed troll. Our "Wahoo-Bite" wahoo lure has been extremely productive when trolling behind our "high speed trolling rigs" at speeds up to 18knots. BigBite Offshore carries three different trolling weights (24, 36, & 48oz) and finishes off the rig with 25 feet of 250lb Mono shock leader. BigBite Offshore also has just released the much anticipated "Wahoo-Trolling Rod". This 50lb class rod is specially designed for high speed trolling and deep dropping. The bent butt rod has all Pacific Bay Eliminator Jr. roller guides and is topped off with a swivel to ensure your line doesn't get compromised on the guides. To view some very detailed pics you can go to http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/album.php?aid=93308&id=98153142548. To order your rod log onto www.bigbiteoffshore.com. Also if you are on Facebook, become a fan of BigBite Offshore and post your fishing pics and success stories. For every success story posted BigBite Offshore will send out a free lure!! Let's pray to the weather gods for these storms to die down so we can get out and catch'em up!!
